On The Cover Review: 2010 Volvo S60 Concept
Although the Volvo S60 Concept has a few features that probably won’t make it into production, this car doesn’t look too far off of what you might expect the next generation S60 to be. If you can get past the dazzling concept car suicide/sliding doors and big glass top, you can see a swoopier, sportier version of the current S60 without much imagination. And, since Volvo is Swedish, Volvo claims several Scandinavian design influences. The headlights are supposed to look like the profile of a Viking longboat and the interior similar to a Swedish living room. Also, the color is supposed to look like Viking root beer. Okay, not really, but it is worth noting that several new cars wore a sparkly brown hue on the show floor this year. Is brown the new silver? At least it isn’t avocado green. Anyway, back to the Volvo. Under the hood is a 1.8-liter turbo-diesel that wouldn’t be out of place in this, or several other Ford Motor Company vehicles. If concept cars give us a peek into the future, the Volvo S60 Concept’s crystal ball is on the short-range setting.
