On The Cover Review: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO

After spending a day behind the wheel of the 2010 Taurus, it becomes clear that this is one of the best, most thought-out cars Ford has come out with in a long time. The engineers and stylists that developed the newest edition of Ford’s iconic family sedan really sweat the details. Everything from the wide-stance to the door panels demonstrates quality. The Taurus is a very large car, and nowhere is that more evident than when standing next to the massive rear quarter panel. To move all that mass, copious power is appreciated. That’s where the SHO comes in. Equipped with a twin-turbo, 365-hp, 3.5-liter V6, the all-wheel-drive SHO version of the Taurus is good for 0-60 mph in just over 5 seconds. Pretty impressive for a car that tips the scales at nearly 4,350-lbs. The SHO is definitely a sleeper, with just a small spoiler, some tiny SHO emblems, and a few other minor details that set it apart from a run-of-the-mill version. The SHO emblem on the back even says “EcoBoost” on it. A 365-hp car that is expected to get 16/25-mpg city/highway is somewhat “Eco,” but “Twin Turbo” would sure seem cooler on there.
