On The Cover Review: 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
If you ever wanted a truck capable of running the Baja 1000 straight from the factory, the new F-150 SVT Raptor is the one for you. This thing is pretty amazing, with dune-buggy like off-road abilities and an outer appearance straight from Dakar. This radical off-roader was designed by Ford’s SVT performance team, which up until now had been known for hot rods like the previous generation Mustang Cobra. The SVT Raptor is obviously a departure from that, but it’s also unlike any factory pickup ever made. A complete reworking of the F-150’s suspension provides an amazing 11.2-inches of travel up front, 13.4-inches in the rear. The 35-inch tall BFGoodrich off-road tires help ensure that the SVT Raptor will survive some serious jumps while you’re flying along the desert terrain. The SVT Raptor will initially be available with Ford’s 5.4-liter, 310-hp V8. The SVT Raptor is a serious, radical off-road machine built for all-out speed and agility in the roughest roads—or non-roads. It’s pretty hard-core for everyday use, but if you need these capabilities, you won’t be able to find anything better straight from the factory.
