On The Cover Review: Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept
Chevy Aveo concept. Who cares, right? And yet, they somehow managed to come up with something cool here. If GM was caught with their pants down the last time fuel prices went berserk, cars like the Aveo RS concept show that they’re really taking this seriously now. You could probably guess that this is an Aveo derivative if you thought about it long enough, but unlike the current production model the RS doesn’t come across as cheap and ugly. This looks like a car people may want to own, not a car they are stuck with owning because it costs the least. Sporty and luxurious touches can be seen inside and out. Underhood is a 1.4-liter, turbocharged four-banger that huffs out 138-hp. This combination should prove to be adequate when it turns up in the upcoming Chevy Cruze sedan, but in this smaller, lighter package, it ought to be a blast. This concept no doubt reveals the design direction of the next-generation Aveo, and also indicates GM’s new philosophy for desirable, capable small cars.
