AUTO RED BOOK REVIEW: 2011 SUBARU IMPREZA CONCEPT

On The Cover Review: 2011 Subaru Impreza Concept

Subaru’s new midsized sedan concept was originally introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year, but it still created some buzz as it returned to the spotlight in Detroit.  Subaru calls it a “Design Concept”, and there are a few in-your-face features in this iteration that may scare people away if they made it to production.  Big wheels and huge, bulging fenders seem right at home on the show circuit.  But midsized cars that sell in volume typically look like the Toyota Camry.  Subaru also reveals that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder found under the hood of the Impreza Concept foreshadows upcoming production powertrains.  Of course, with the massive appearance created by all the brick-a-brack, that little four almost doesn’t seem big enough.  Maybe Subaru should come up with a V8 to back up all that brawn.  OK, maybe not.
